MUNICIPAL SERVICES DESIGN TECHNOLOGIST

Established in 1973 and incorporated in 1974, D.G. Biddle & Associates Limited provides Consulting Engineering services in Southern Ontario, mainly in the Durham Region and surrounding area. The company has a staff of approximately 45, including Professional Engineers, Planners, Technicians, Administrative and Field Personnel providing Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services to both private and public clients.


Role Summary:


We currently have an immediate opening for a Municipal Services Design Technologist/Technician for a career in subdivision and municipal servicing projects. More specifically, the duties for this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Undertake civil engineering design and review for a wide range of projects including land development, municipal infrastructure, and water resources management.
  • Produce conceptual design, detailed design, related drawings and technical specifications for new road and road reconstruction projects, including related infrastructure.
  • Prepare municipal engineering designs, including storm and sanitary sewer design and hydraulics, hydraulic grade-line analysis, stormwater management, and lot grading.
  • Produce road design including horizontal and vertical profiles, and detailed grading and drainage designs.
  • Ensure technical work and design calculations are of a high company standard.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary design team in delivering positive client performance.

Qualifications:

  • Completed a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma

INTERMEDIATE CIVIL ENGINEER - Site Plan Team Lead

Role Summary:

We currently have an immediate opening for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to lead a Site Plan Team:


Position: Intermediate Civil Engineer - Site Plan Team Supervisor.


Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing a site plan team for various civil engineering projects related to Site Plan Applications, building permits and Site Alteration Permits.
  • Overseeing the preparation and review of grading plans, servicing plans and stormwater management reports ensuring compliance with municipal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, and municipal officials to facilitate project approvals and permits.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Preparing and assisting with the preparation of reports, proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on site plan design and project management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of municipal and provincial regulations related to site development.
